Sustainable Mobility Consultant at Mobycon, Netherlands
Angela van der Kloof enjoys working where movement and people meet, creating a synergy between people’s physical movement and their mental movement and challenging people to do things differently. As a consultant with over 20 years of experience, Angela specializes in sustainable mobility projects advising clients in the fields of (electric) cycling and traffic safety and stimulating behavioural change through education, communication and organisation. Angela sees the bike as a tool to stimulate participation and interaction and create an environment that is social and accessible for all.
Drawing upon her background in human geography and education, including adult learning, Angela developed a series of train-the-trainer sessions for cycling, which she has been teaching in The Netherlands for more than 15 years. She is the initiator of a successful project called “Cycle friends – sharing cycling as a lifestyle” in which enthusiastic cyclists support beginner cyclists through riding together. Most recently, Angela has been travelling the world with her colleagues and partners from the Danish consultancy Copenhagenize teaching the “Kickstand Sessions,” master classes in bicycle policy and planning, which she helped develop. Kickstand is aimed at planners, engineers and others interested in liveable communities.
Like many people in The Netherlands, Angela uses her bike to move through her day. She enjoys the easy pace, which affords her the chance to look in shop windows, meet her neighbours and observe the seasonal changes in the parks and gardens of her city.
