Bike ‘n’ Rest

Project of urban bike and rest station can take place in any place near the cycling paths, in city center or in a city park. It is represented as a series of pavilion living rooms. Project is composed of 3 modular shipping containers cut into 7 pieces. The whole composition can be very easily transported to any other location.

Project of urban bike and rest station can take place in any place near the cycling paths, in city center or in a city park. It is represented as a series of pavilion living rooms. Each is pointed to surrounding nature environment or interesting city ambient on one side and at the same time creating internal public space between all the pavilions.



Project is composed of 3 modular shipping containers cut into 7 pieces. Two of them are service pavilions: Bike – help ‘n’ charging station and Bar – snack station. Other 5 boxes represent urban living room boxes with chairs and tables to rest or have a drink with friends. User can leave bike at charging station or also drive directly to the pavilion area.

Bike help and charging station is equipped with necessary repair tools and automat to buy necessary spare parts. There we can also find air pump and charger for electrical bikes. In a bar, we can buy fresh drinks and snacks. There is also a public toilet at the back of pavilion. Every box is equipped with electrical plugs hanging from the ceiling to charge your computer or mobile phone. These boxes can be used for multiple different purposes. Wireless internet hotspot is available in area.



Facades consist of two opposing sides and a roof make of “sandwich panels” (insulation between twho metal plates), and two transparent sides – a window and a door. Interior is designed with acrylic plates – ceiling and ground darker, walls lighter. Every pavilion also has a deck, which can be closed at night to protect the box from vandalism.

Service pavilions are equipped with photovoltaic system on the roof, which provides electrical energy, stored in a battery in one of the pavilions. Energy is distributed to all the other pavilions where the plugs and the bulbs are. All waste water is stored at the back of the bike pavilion. Heating can be provided by controlled air system or by passive heating by sun energy.



The whole composition can be very easily transported to another location, because each box is independent and composition can be restored at another location according to new environment.
