Hop-on Hop-off your City Bike Guide
Talk of the town AB will the coming week launch a new way for visitors to experience Stockholm. The the audio guide app "Hop-on Hop-off your Stockholm City Bike Audio Guide" powered by GuidiGO. In the app, we have combined our guide with tips to users on where it is smartest to walk or use the bike for transport between the audio guide’s sights and where they can pick-up and leave their bikes.
We have since 2006 offered visitors and residents to experience Stockholm with a personal mobile audio guide Talk of the town™. It includes 2-3 minutes of popular historical stories, spiced with anecdotes, at 56 of the most visited attractions in Stockholm. It includes a number of locations inside the Skansen open-air museum and at the Drottningholm Palace just outside Stockholm. All stories are available in six different languages.
In the first versions it was implemented as an call service. Now, technology has caught up with our idea of audio guides out on the town, and through partnerships with international partners, we are now launching our audio guides as apps for smartphones. First up is our cooperation with our partner GuidiGO in Paris. The GudiGO app, that is free to download for the iPhone, was launched a month ago. The app will also be available for Android before midsummer
As partner to Clear Channel, that runs the Stockholm City Bikes bike-sharing system in partnership with the City of Stockholm, we have made it possible for guest’s staying at any of more than 60 hotels in Stockholm to be able to buy a three-day bike card for Stockholm City Bikes at the reception desk.
In the app, we have combined our audio guide with tips to users on where it is smartest to walk or use the bike for transport between the audio guide’s sights and where they can pick-up and leave their bikes. The app will even show an image of the suggested bike stations.
It is an innovative, environmentally friendly and fun way to have visitors bike around the city and learn more about Stockholm. The visitor purchase a three-day bike card to Stockholm City Bikes and download the audio guide and then they will get a very special experience.
In the coming version we will also implement real time information to check that there is available bikes and the actual number of bikes and free slots in the bike station we suggest.
As far as we know Stockholm will be the first destinations that offer this fun, eco-friendly and healthy way for sightseeing as an alternative to guided tours by Hop-on Hop-off tours on buses ´that is offered in many cities.
We will also offer Hotels and other businesses in the hospitality industry to provide visitors "Vouchers" for downloading the audio guide to their smartphones instead of using so-called "in-app purchase".
We want to make it as easy as possible to get visitors to use a bike while experience our beautiful hometown Stockholm.
Feel free to download the app and then search on "Talk of the town" or "Stockholm" and you will find our audio guides. The try our audio guide inside Skansen open-air museum, which is free to download as ad sample of our other guides to be launched in the coming weeks.
Welcome to Stockholm and Talk of the town.
