Alec Hager

Spokesman of Radlobby Austria

Alec Hager (b. 1972) is chairman of the Vienna-based cycle advocacy group “Radlobby IG Fahrrad” and spokesman of the nationwide association “Radlobby Österreich”. Besides his professional dedication to improving bicycle traffic in Austria, he is engaged in many ways in cycle-cultural events.

Alec has organized the International Bicycle Film Festival Vienna since 2007, and has continued to organize the event since it was transferred in 2012 to the weeklong festival for Viennese bike culture, Wien. He served as editor-in-chief of the bike culture magazine “Velosophie” from 2008-2011, wrote the guidebook Cycling in Vienna, and planned the nationwide bike-to-work-campaign “Österreich radelt zur Arbeit,” which has run since 2011.The world revolves around the bicycle’s wheels for Alec Hager. As an expert on cycle traffic, an advocate for non-motorized mobility, an aficionado of international bicycle culture, an enthusiastic bike traveller, and a carfree urbanite, he has found that there is nearly no limit to how far a bike can take you.
