Randy Neufeld


Director of the SRAM Cycling Fund

Randy Neufeld is the director of the SRAM Cycling Fund for SRAM Corporation, a maker of bicycle components. The Fund supports innovative efforts to promote cycling infrastructure in Europe and the United States. Significant projects have included the Green Lane Project, People for Bikes, IMBA Europe, and the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide. The Fund is a major supporter of the European Cyclists’ Federation and its Cycling Industry Club.Randy worked for over twenty years for the Active Transportation Alliance, formally known as the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation. He began as executive director in 1987, and then as Chief Strategy Officer from 2004 through 2009. He continues to serve as a board member.

Randy has been a leader in pedestrian and bicycle transportation in Chicago, the United States and internationally. He has experience working in all aspects of bicycle and pedestrian promotion, policy, campaign and organizational development. He loves to connect advocates to effective strategies, transformational decision-points and powerful decision-makers.

Randy serves on Chicago’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Councils, and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning Transportation Committee. He is president of America Bikes, the national coalition working to grow bicycling through federal transportation policy and funding. He was the founding chair of the Alliance for Biking and Walking, a North American coalition of pedestrian and bicycle advocacy groups. Randy is a regular advisor to the National Complete Streets Coalition, the National Partnership for Safe Routes to School, and ECF’s Cycling Industry Club.

Randy recently authored a chapter on funding for Enabling Cycling Cities: Ingredients for Success, a CIVITAS MIMOSA publication for the European Commission.
